Creative Use of Deck Boards: What can you do?

Wood is amazing. It can be twisted, bent, shaped, turned, and crafted into almost anything you can imagine. This natural material has played an immeasurable part in the development of our world. Unfortunately, the categorizing of this beautiful product has led to many assumptions like decking boards are only for decking.

One of our customers in Buffalo, NY creatively used our Tigerwood decking to refinish the bed of his truck and it looks amazing. The entire truck was restored and the bed, being one of the more prominent areas of the truck, became a showpiece.

Our decking has been used for picnic tables, flower planters, and benches, but the truck bed is something that’s completely outside the box. This project really surprised us and made us wonder what else our customers can do with our deck boards. So if you have some creative uses for our decking, consider submitting some finished project photos to our contest for a chance to win an iPad or a new Dewalt Drill.

  1. I have converted a table top out of Teak 24×24 deck materials I about a month ago would like to keep the same look as when i received them. It came out just as i expected. Would l use the deck wise IPE oil to keep this same look

  2. Ipe Oil (and any oil treatment) will enrich and preserve the color. It will make the wood darker than it was at first, but the only other option is to let it turn gray. I’d say your best bet is to use the Ipe Oil.
