When you visit the magical theme parks and resorts of Disney World, you feel as if you’ve escaped to another dimension. One of these magical escapes is the Disney BoardWalk Resort.

The Disney BoardWalk opened in July of 1996. Visitors and guests are immediately taken back in time to the famous turn of the century boardwalks of Coney Island and Atlantic City. This quarter mile, 90,000 square foot area is home to several restaurants, shops, and nightclubs. You can even rent a bicycle or watch street performers up and down the boardwalk. With foot traffic of thousands of people per day Disney knew they needed something that would withstand heavy-duty abuse plus the tropical Florida climate.

One of our employees recently visited the Disney BoardWalk Resort and discovered the boardwalk is made out of Ipe decking! Given the daily traffic and use, it makes sense the boardwalk designers would choose Ipe. Famous for its density and low maintenance, Ipe really is the perfect choice for this first class resort destination.

Ipe is used in large scale marine applications because of its proven to last decades longer than any other natural wood or composite deck material. Not only is Ipe decking a reliable product, it looks great and maintains its structural integrity regardless of the climate.

Next time you’re in the Orlando area, stop by the Disney BoardWalk, and you’ll be able to see for yourself why Ipe is such a sought after, reliable hardwood decking.
