Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Alpine Collection product line made from?
The AZEK Alpine Collection is made from cellular PVC with an exterior-grade, wood-tone laminate bonded onto the WP4 and Beadboard profiles.
How do I conceal the cut ends of Alpine Collection boards?
Use AZEK’s color-matching end-cut coating applicator for exposed board edges. Fill any visible fastener holes with a wax-stick nail-hole filler to maintain the finished look.
What special considerations are there for expansion, contraction and joist spacing when installing Alpine Collection?
The Alpine Collection will experience expansion and contraction as temperatures change (even though moisture-driven expansion is less than wood). Boards must be fastened per the installation guide and a ½″ (approx.) gap should be left around the perimeter. Also: for the WP4 profile the joist spacing should not exceed 16″ on center; for the Beadboard profile it should not exceed 12″ on center (or additional backing is required).
How do I install the Zip-UP Ceiling system when both sides of the deck joists are flush?
If your deck’s joists are flush on both sides, you’ll need to attach a mounting surface (such as a 2×4 or 2×6 board on edge along the bottom of the rim or end joist) to provide an edge for the Zip-UP wall trim.
Can Zip-UP Ceiling/UnderDeck panels be spliced or joined to extend their length?
No, Zip-UP Ceiling and UnderDeck panels cannot be spliced or joined to extend their length. Doing so compromises the water-seal and may lead to leaking.
How long can a hardwood (wood-plank) ceiling last if it’s properly maintained?
A well-maintained wood ceiling can last several decades (and even longer) with proper care.
